Ministries

We have a need for Lay Ministers for our liturgies as Lectors, Eucharistic Minister, Ushers, and Mass Servers. The Worship and Spirituality Committee provide training sessions periodically for Lay Ministers.

Lectors: Our lectors proclaim the Word of God in our parish liturgies, so that all may hear and respond to God's message of love. Two lectors are assigned to each weekend/holiday liturgy for one month at a time. A new schedule is mailed monthly with names of other lectors. Adults and high school students are encouraged to volunteer.

Extra Ordinary Ministers: These ministers are trained members of the parish who distribute Holy Communion at the weekend Masses. They are assigned for a month at a time and new assignments are made monthly.

Ushers: Ushers are St. Mary's are also assigned for liturgies for a month at a time and new assignments are made monthly. They help by welcoming those who come to worship, assisting them to be seated, receiving the offering of monetary support, directing communicants to the altar, distributing the parish bulletin, and being available to deal with emergencies, which may arise during the liturgy. All adults, men and women, are encouraged to volunteer for the liturgy and high school students may also wish to volunteer.

Mass Servers: Boys and girls may sign up to be a Mass Server after they have receives the Sacrament of First Communion. Servers should choose a Mass time convenient of the family and they will be assigned to serve for two weeks at the liturgy.

Master of Ceremonies: The MC guides and directs the Liturgy assuring that all ministers carry out their assigned functions. They assist the priest(s) and deacon(s) allowing them to focus on prayer. Larry Carl schedules the MC’s. Pat O’Keefe and Larry Carl train the MC’s.

Music Ministry

Essential to good liturgy is good and appropriate music. Any contribution to the liturgy and the spirituality of each Mass is always welcomed and encouraged. New members are always welcome as well as individuals wishing to contribute to the ministry serving a cantors, soloists, and instrumentalists. Each of our Masses offers different types of music.

Our 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM Masses are usually led by a Cantor with a lot of parishioner participation.

St Mary's Choir has a long-standing tradition in the parish. The choir participates primarily from September 1 to June 1 and sings at the 9:30 AM Mass and all major feast days of the church year. The adult choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Church for approximately one hour and you need not be a professional musician to participate. We are always looking for new and energetic members.
